ignition failure

woody:
i have a fault any ideas

unlock door with fob
turn ignition on
use immobilizer
start engine
no problem

turn ignition off
wait a couple of mins (fuel up buy paper etc)
turn ignition on
use immobilizer
engine doesn't start
car shaped light comes on the dash
it doesn't turn engine over
press door fob everything works

bloody annoying

any suggestions

Not sure what you mean by "use immobilizer" but on some Discoveries the immobiliser activiates itself if you leave the car unlocked for more than (about) 30 seconds. Once this has happened you need to lock and then unlock the doors again to reset the immobiliser.

it has a cobra immobiliser on the dash where you touch a little fob too

had no probs till recently

Get rid of the imobiliser is my advice.

Had the same problem with my motor when the spider (part of the alarm system) went nuts again. Ripped the dash apart and removed the offending bit of kit and put part no AMR4956 from Dingocrofts (about £10 including postage) and all now is OK.
