sport immobiliser

Hi I have just bought a 2.0ltr Sport, but the guy I bought it from has lost the immobiliser fob. Is there a way round this or do I have to buy a ECU and new fob? He has tried to join the wires together and has removed the connector bit you put the fob into so just getting a new fob is not poss.
I don't mind having to switch the fuel pump on manually as I think this is what is disabled by the immobiliser.
