8 valve vit engine

hi everyone when a cam belt breaks on the vit enge do the pistons hit the valves i cant remember if they do or not it has been a long time since i done one

I believe they do hit but on my 1300 when the belt went on that I put a new one on and it was alright but it only broke at low speed. But I had a 410 one snap and it bent 6 valves, For the cost of a belt its worth putting one on and doing a compression test.
