when changing the head gasket on a 200tdi disco does the head have to be skimmed in order to put the new gasket on . . .

took it up for mot earlier and it started smoking rather alot of white smoke got it up there garage said sorry cant do it due to amount of smoke coming out . . . i then explained i took the head off etc and he asked if i had the head skimmed and that i should have it skimmed and new gasket put on . . .


any help please people

You need it skimmed if it is not flat to within the required tollerance, you need it checked first then skimmed if required.

 where would be able to check it .. . . and how much would i cost ruffly if u know . . .

brights on filton ave mate and think its about 40 quid but could be wrong plus you will need to strip the head and take out the injectors but im sure you can leave the valves in place ring them firstto get the price
