air flow meter
kizz81:
hello,
have a 3.9 that we are fitting into a 4.2 rangie body, i am wondering if it is possible to get rid of the air flow sensor and have it run properly
cheers kieran
clbarclay:
I hjave seen megasquiret fuel injection systems setup without air flow meters, however it would appear that to get the best out of the engine the ECU needs to know how much air is getting in rather than just butterfly position.
Why do you want to get rid of it?
Range Rover Blues:
If you unplug the MAF sensor then the ECU will try to runn limp-along. If it has lambda sensors then it can keep running although it will be thirsty.
You can pipck up new MAF sensors for as little as £50 on flea bay. Check the wiring in the plug first though ;)
kizz81:
cheers,
i was wondering as a mates air flow metre has broken
many thanks kieran
TwoSheds:
Simplest thing would be to replace it - there is one on eBay (item 170304056528) finishing tonight that is currently 99p!
