driving about without a tax disc?

:? :? :? :?hi all this is now worrying me ,i live in northamptonshire,i have a discovery with no v5 document because it was written off(only dented wing)so i phoned the dvla to ask about the procedjure on how to get it back on the road ??they told me to get it mot,d then take it to be vehicle checked at peterborough when i asked about tax i was told it would be okay a long as it was booked in(ANYONE LOAN ME A TRAILER :( :()

Apparently if you get a transit and put a set of wheel trims on it , you don't need tax. :) :)

Slightly different situation because until it is inspected you can't get a tax disc, so that is allowed, but you must carry the appointment letter and only use the most direct route and not go shopping on the way.
Did you know that you can actually drive a totally unregistered vehicle to an SVA test, with no tax disc or number plate?

when I taxed my car onlone the other day when I completed the transaction it said I have up to 5 days into the month to run around on the old disk to allow for the new disk to arrive in the post.
