Wiper not restoring to stop position

(1/3) > >>

robbie:
mmhh, another niddle with the motor...... when the front window is washed or if the wiper is switched onto intermittent, the motor does not restore to its 'home' position.... Anyone any idea what that might be??

I need to switch it onto slow speed and then stop it at the right time... annoying

wizard:
I think there is a micro switch in the wiper housing that is a home position limit, it has either come loose or packed up .

Part of the circuitry in the motor normally controls that by contacts, been a while since I had one apart, but might be burnt or clogged up, I'm presuming that these are the same as most motor units are.

Not actually had one of the disco ones apart, but sounds like it will be inside the unit

robbie:
Thanks lads, I hope to have time after fitting the Suzie exhaust on Sunday. The jobs just keep on coming...

I have had company cars for about 12 yrs and forgot what it was like working on motors in winter without a garage to keep warm in!!!! The numb feeling in the fingers soon reminded me
