Glow Plug Timer installation on a NAD/TD
thompjas:
Relay stays on for about 10secs, at present the 90 needs 2 lots of glow plugs, possibly 3 goes, depends on how cold it is when I get in it !
trickydicky:
mine was well ruff to start so i tryed giving it 10 seconds then turn it over then drop the key back to the glow plug position and now it starts first time every time . can you do that with a relay ?
TwoSheds:
The relay is temperature sensitive (which is why it's high up at the back of the engine bay and on the exhaust side I guess) and mine has the following (rough - from memory only) timings:
Mild: At room temp in the house: about 7 seconds.
Warm: In a previously running engine bay: about 3 seconds.
Cold: Been in the freezer for ten minutes: about 13 seconds.
Also: I think that it will run the heaters anyway while the starter is turning.
Also (II): If you turn off the ignition and then turn it on again it appears to run the heaters again, but for a shorter time (presumably due to internal heating?)
