Hi took the family shopping in the disco as with this weather it is better than driving the espace i pulled to the call of nature and while the engine was running to keep the car warm inside due to having the baby in i started to hear this clicking or ticking sound coming from the injection pump area i have a funny feeling the cam belt might be breaking up or the injection pump is going have anyone got any ideias what it might be i have put it in the for sale section but everyone has told me to bare with it after all the hard work i done in welding it up and getting it through the mot

Range Rover Blues:
Fuel lift pump sists directly behind and runs from a cam :-k, or the vac pump :undecided:

Oz:
Change the cam belt mate see what happens

never heard of that before . iff there is anything a miss with the belt you may see some debris out or through the wading plug hole just behind the damper pulley . may be worth a look. there is also an inspection plate where you can time the injector pump . 3 bolts. might be worth looking behind there to . iff it is the pump it is possible to do without removing the timing belt . i made a peice of kit to do it . dont take this wrong but sound travells are you sure it was the top of the pump . another little fault is the priming lever on the lift pump . they can drop down iff unclipped and make a ticking noise . a few little things i'd check ..

Hiya, This may sound daft but try changing the fuel filter.A restricted fuel flow will make the pump
"tick". Sounds strange but cheap to try and it fixed two i have worked on with noisy fuel pumps.
  Good luck.
