I did the same thing the other day, An artic coming out of Morrisons was blocking the dual carriageway just before a roundabout. He kept trying but just made things worse. I backed the Range Rover up and put the strap on my towbar and the truck driver just looked at me.  I said its worth a try and he agreed. he was astonished when it just started moving, as was I!
  The manager from Morrisons gave me a £10 fuel voucher!

My dad was one of those polis in the 70's/80's on the motorway in Glasgow in a Range Rover ... used to pick me up from primary school every now and then :)
