Cleaning intercoolers

Hi can anyone shed some light on the best way of cleaning out the intercooler on my 300Tdi Disco.

hi i clean mine with parrafin tip looads oin shake about then leave for 10 mins then shake about again tip out repeat
with clean parrafin the leave on a heater to dry job done  :D

i did mine with petrol, 1/2 filled it left it lying down for 1hr then empty it then turn it over refill wait 1hr then empty rinse out with water then air dry ( i used a air compressor to blow it out and dry it out plus to get rid of fumes) but make sure its dry before refitting.
 and the petrol came out more like black sludge

Range Rover Blues:
I used degreaser and left it in overnight, b ut you can use petrol, deisel or parafin.  Just make sure the last lot comes out clean then you degrease and dry it out.

i have always used parifin it always makes a good job .sounds like you must have  the same problem as me then if you need to wash it out
