Flywheel plug

Ok stupid question time.

Having just replaced a burnt out clutch I noticed that there is what looks like a drain plug hole at the bottom front of the flywheel housing.

The question is, is there supposed to be a plug in this as at the moment there is nothing?

It's a def 90 1989 with 2.5 turbo diesel

Thanks

MuddyMachine:
The hole is for a wading plug, it should be open.
You fit a bolt in there when you are doing a lot of wading or spending alot of time in mud :D
Leave it open so any water in the bell housing can drain away

Tank:
Cool thanks better get a bolt for it for when I take her for her fortnightly swim at whaddon

billy badger:
There's also a hole for a wading plug at the bottom of the timing belt cover for the same reason.

Theres a guy on ebay that sells them both for about £3 quid including postage,I have them fitted to my discovery and leave them in all the time and every 2 weeks remove them to drain anything,I also fitted an o ring to mine just to be sure nothing gets in.
