Smoke from under the dash!!!
crazymac:
Whats the likely culprit??
I have been driving about with no problems today with the fan on to give me some heat. I then returned home and stopped the Discovery outside my garage and went to open it up. I then restarted the Discovery to drive it in and a load of smoke came from under the dash with associated smell  I panicked and stopped it, waited for the smoke to clear then restarted again and drove it into the garage.
The fans still work on all settings and the stereo still works, but what else could it be??
Damn I hate car electrickery!! :-k :-k
Disco-andy:
when i had my old 200, the fan motor went up in smoke, i think it worked to start with then turned in to thick black smoke. not much help but maybe worth a sniff round the passenger foot well?

My dad had the same problem but on his the fan stopped workin i think he put a new heater in and it was fine .

My 1st thought was the fan as I had this with the aircon fans when I first bought it, I took the dash out and replaced the whole unit then (about 4 years ago now) but the fan is working on all three settings (I didn't replace the aircon ones i've just done away with aircon instead)
Lincs niva:
Silly question but are you sure its smoke and not steam just a thought..
Cheers Gav
