Range Rover Blues:
I've got a VARTA silver nickel thingy battery.  Flatten it so much that the lights don't come on with the ignition :shock:  Charge it up and it's still good.

Avoid cheapo batteries, thats' why they are cheap.

I've got one of those fitted, but the battery still died last week due to the cold - but it has been -3 for a few nights without being used.
