heavy duty track rods
Mark_Solesbury:
Mines got standard track rods, but they sit in a tray thats fitted...
Its a Scorpian one..
Ive never bent / broken it.
topless matt:
Those guards are god at taking impacts to the actual rod but if it bends by forces acting on the wheel it wont help.
In fact, if the rod gets wedged against the side, it may be impossible to steer to find a decent place to remover the rod
clbarclay:
I had a southdown axle guard which like the scorpion one above had frain holes, but it didn't drain mud too well and several times ended up full of mud after bog/mud runs.
I have since removed the axle guard now have lengths of 30x30 box section (becuse they were left over from building some doors) slipped over standard track and drag rods. So far they have been fine, even when I was using the range rover as an ice breaker  Up ton 4" thick slabs of ice didn't bend them and there wasn't a steering gurad to help them.
william127:
