hi all i just done my 300 tdi conversion into my 90 had the problem with alter wires solderd the 2 brown wires together to pick one big one 300 alter and left with brown/yellow feed wire, connected the brown/yellow wire up and after i done it and went to start it no battery light when ignition is on. it starts ok and charges ok then when you turn engine of battery light comes on as engine dies and is out ok. have i missed summit out i have to alter

nellyscossy:
be careful because the rev counter wiring is taken from the back of the alternator maybe you've got the rev counter and battery light wiring mixed up

biggerlandy:
no thats ok i checked that on wireing dia and it says that power feed into alter is brown/yellow on both defender and disco

squaddie_fox:
try earthin alternator i know a mate of mine had same probs with battery light he put an earth on alt mountin to engine an has been sound since comes on an off as should rev counter feed on a 300 alternator is a spade connection  but defo try the earthin alternator first with set of jump leads first if it works then make a permant earth cable if not then u could have a goosed alternator

biggerlandy:
allready done that i do that as standard on a landy when you have to rely on big draws etc i have 10 mm cable as an earth connecting alter  to starter motor then to negative on battery
