disco 200tdi in a td 90
bioenhanced:
hi i was wondering if someone would have some advicefor me.
I got a cheap disco 200tdi it was an mot failure (needs a lot of welding on the chasis) but the engine runs well and does not smoke or leak.
I wanted to put the 200tdi in my turbo diesel 90 will if fit and is it truly wise move.
I have heard its a good engine in the 90 with more torque and better mpg is this true.
If and one can help i will be truly greatfull

two things for thought i dont think the link covers is 1 swap fly wheel, engine back cover over from your td lump you got to shave of a dowl on new engine then it fits straight on, and to make life better for you can buy the down pipe all done for you they are on e bay

ive just done the same conversion usin discovery flywheel an clutch all i removed was the lower studs an the dowels an it bolted straight up all u got to do is remove the engine mounts off disco engine an bolt the td mounts on instead all the td wiring goes on the disco lump all u got to do dependin on what alternator u got on the disco lump is cut plug off defender wiring loom an put ring connectors on instead when i done mine i brought the conversion kit for exhaust an intercooler pipes just for easy an quickness an u will need the td oil pipes to the rad an also u need to get the power steering pipe extended by a inch or u can stretch it an also a good mod for ya 90 is to put the disco transfer box on to if u doin motorway crusin as engine doesnt scream as much unless u got big tyres on then its not needed an also throw on the back axle that way u get disc brakes all round if u look at solihull micks post he is doin the same with pics usin the disco glow plug timer i didnt use it i just do glow plugs with ignition barrel but its all down to personal prefrence
