FYI...The engine was developed by two Italians,Vancini and Martelli (hence the "VM"), but it has indeed been used in loads of marine applications, testament to how good this engine is! How many ford engines have failed over the years? but when compared to how many were made its all relative.

Thanks for that info, interesting.
What do people know about the 3.1 TD in the Grand Cherokee, I have seen that also listed as a VM engine, same style (4 heads etc).
