James.Harwood:
There are a coulpe of usefull programs you may want to download and run, CCleaner (www.ccleaner.com) and Adaware (www.lavasoft.com).  One nasty little sideaffect of viral infections is the bits left behind that the AV's don't pick up.

Good luck and any problems try a big hammer, it works on the Landrover.

Don't be tempted to run 2 bits of AV software at the same time, it makes things worse!

Mark_Solesbury:
Can I also add...

Spyware Blaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
super anti spyware (Sounds rubbish - Isnt.) http://www.superantispyware.com/

Hi again, I have windows xp running with aol as my isp ( oi stop laughing [-X ) i cant now find a reference to the trojan virus as my norton software wont let me look at quarantined items now
aol is broadband and appears to work correctly apart from it connecting itself to internet unless i pull the plug?

Disco Matt:
The self-connecting part would suggest to me that there is a trojan of some sort in residence - they tend to phone home and will be trying to ensure they have an internet connection to do so.

beast5680:
hmmm thats the bit that worries me so i need to look at how to make it stop connecting then :-k
