Diffs problem.
« on: December 19, 2008, 17:09:00 »
I've been over the West Coast 4x4 today to get my CV jonts replaced and the guys had a look at the diffs problem,
It seems that the centre diff is going in but is not sending a signal to the dash telling it that it is in,
this then not lighting up the centre diff indicator nor allowing the axle diffs to be engaged.
Does anyone know a sparky who knows his way around the electrics/electronics on the TLC FJ80?
Or has anyone got any ideas?
WC4X4 said they got the centre diff dash board light to flicker on and off by touching/wiggling the electrical plug on the gear box.
They also swapped the actuator which proved that that was not the problem.
So it does look like and electrical problem.
Cheers and thanks for any advice that may come.
Ron.

I'll check out the conectors but the WC4x4 lads said it looks like someone has been messing about with the wires.
I hope I can sort it by cleaning the terminals.
I'll let you know.

Hello Paul,

I've been out over the xmas holiday in the lake district and I'm pretty sure that my diffs are not working.
I got to where all the landrovers could get to but I'd have got further if the diffs had have been operating.
I'll be checking out the wiring when I can but am off to Bangladesh on the 10 Jan.
Cheers for now,
Ron.
