Range Rover Blues:
Don't even bother tryin to save the stub axle, if it's had BOTH bearings weld on then the amount of heat in there could have damaged the stub, the surface will undoubtedly be damaged so that the new bearings will stick on before they sit in the right place.  Utter PITA and for what a S/H stub will cost throw that one away.

anaxemurderer:
I got them off, with little damage but i reckon i might aswell change the stub to make sure. Can't seem to find stub axles for rrc on paddocks, anybody know a part number?

And any clue what oil seal it requires, the old one is an unidentifiable mangled mess! Its for a 1984 two door classic (3.5 carbs).

Cheers

Mud-muncher1:
what sort of set up is the hub and what sort of axle have you got? not sure if it going to be the same as my disco but all the hub seals are the same i think in which case its part number is FTC4785R

Range Rover Blues:
That sounds like one of them, but there is another at the other end of the hub.

tack43:
Part No for stub axle 1970-85 is 593788. They cost £200.80 from Rimmers. Ouch! Paddocks do a second hand one in Salvage section for £50.

Hope this helps.
