Ah, the Dana type! That's another thing I'd need to know, but was going to leave that until later. Still, with a vague idea now at least I can look at prices of protection.
According to http://www.jpmagazine.com/featuredvehicles/154_0706_1993_2004_jeep_grand_cherokee/index.html the axle config is "...Dana 30 up front and the aluminum centersection Dana 44 out back..."
