Rubbish parts......

Jim-Willy:
Will be fitting my 3rd vac pump this weekend, 1st replacement lasted 13 months and this one one lasted 7, i lost all servo on the M62 last night when the lump of junk randomley decided it was time the front cover came loose!  The original did 100,000+ but these Britparts ones are doing my head in.  Anybody having similar problems?  I haven't got £300 quid to spend on a genuine one........

Range Rover Blues:
Dayco bvelt tensioner on the 300TDi, the pulley is running out of true so the belt jumpts off, trashes the belt and top hose, loose the power steering because the pulley for that is covered in anti freeze, lucky the engine isn't trashed form loosing coolant.  All because I swapped the tensioner as a precaution when I did the head.

V8MoneyPit:
A problem we find in the Mini world is that 'genuine' parts boxes often contain what you an I would know as a pattern part. The likes of Lucas, AP, Girling, etc are often buying in imported parts to put in their boxes rather than the original parts they used to have made themselves.

Not sure if this goes on in the LR world, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Porny:
Try and get yourself a Wabco one, as this is who makes the OE ones for Land Rover.

If needed, I can supply a Wabco unit for £99.80 + vat and postage (comes with a 12 month warranty)

My rebuild has been on the road for a month and I've had.

13 wipac lights (small types)
2 britpart fuel gauge senders
2 britpart water pumps
3 britpart brake vaccuum servo's

And a few other bits and bobs

Any other car I'd have been hitting the roof and getting my solicitors involved, but for some reason these manufactures seem to get away with it as we all accept that the parts are crap.
