Cooling fan replacement

My viscous has become siezed, I suspect all the muddy water has taken its toll. Anyway was simply going to wire in a spare electric fan that I have and  remove the viscous.
But after a conversation today with someone who breaks discos and range rovers he reckons that I should stick with the viscous because an electric one is not upto the job and would not work after its 1st dunking.

What is everyone elses thoughts????  :-k :-k :-k

I have two electric fans fitted one behind and one in front (both off a vectra sri )

as long as you remember to turn them off when in the water they are fine ..

My viscous fan packed up, so I made some decisions!

Removed my aircon and aircon rad, but left the aircon fans and electrics, and removed the viscous fan. I now run, and have done for 3 years without a viscous fan with no problems. on the odd occasion the temperature rises which is usually when laning the aircon fans still kick in automatically and cool things down again. works a treat.

Range Rover Blues:
I was having problems with the LSE and psoke to Kenlowe direct, they advised me NOT to remove the viscous and fit electric as none are rated as high as the viscous and for a tow car like mine they would not gaurantee that electrics were up to the job.

New viscous, £50 delivered.

i use mine daily and for some pretty heavy off road use and have taken the viscous fan off and have an electric wired up via relay on a switch. It never needs it in everday use and only an occasional  min burst when off roading  :D
