LED Tailights. Are they worth it?
Sharpshooter:
Hi All. I was thinking of upgrading my Tailights to LED ones. Not because i need to, but its something the lids can get for me for crimbo. Are they worth having? I know about all the current draw, and come on quicker stuff.
Are thay as bright, Clear as normal lamps?
If so, which are best to get?
Cheers . Wayne. :)
carbore:
In theory yes, especially brake lights.
As you say the light up quicker. I saw a review on top gear (before it was "The Clarkson show") and it went something like "LED lights illuminate xMilliseconds quicker than a normal bulb, now xMillisconds does not sound a lot, but at 70mph its about 3 feet, or the distance between your bumper and where your kids sit"
Also if they fail its only 1 led, having found both normal bulbs fialed symalteniously on my golf I think I may get some.
Cant say about brightness, but provided they are E marked (I think, thats it) an from a reputable seller then they should be ok.

I've got them on the back of the Freelander and can't say I see much difference for light amount. They certainly draw a lot less current, which is why I fitted them.
muddyjames:
are you talking about the led bulbs that fit into your current lighting bulb holes? I have always thought about them too. :-k

Yes James. They are the ones. I just thought its a bit of bling. And as the disco's lights arnt easy to get to in the back, i would change them for longer lasting ones.
I would like to know a reputable seller of them too. :)
