The only recovery that will fetch me back with a trailer breakdown as well as a car, that will recover a caravan over 17 feet and as a bonus, they will recover me on holiday and if the car can't be fixed will pick me up and take me home again at the end of it.

Ditto except for I am with RAC and get caravan covered for a discount on policy because I am with camping and caravanning. RAC have even come to a field in the middle of no where which was a camp site and drove on the field and I gave them directions to the site. can only praise RAC.

Much the same here - parents are members so all the family fleet is covered. I agree on the postcode problem - on the one occasion that I needed to use them they didn't seem to be able to tell me where the recovery driver was coming from so I could give directions along the lines of "get onto this road in this direction, I'm about two miles west of this village". In the end they put me through to the driver, as he was a local too it wasn't a problem!
Saffy:
RAC have been good for me last few years, and I only call (score of 5 at moment :cheesy:) them when needed a recovery home, everything else I should be able to sort myself. I understand why and have to live with the big waste of time where they send out a tech first before taking my word and send the low loader I requested.
I agree these organisations do use a system of location which is could be improved upon. Them being able to handle an OS grid reference would be big help. The fact that man hole covers have a reference number on them which can be pinpointed within a few feet could be one alternative location method (if only utility companies shared their database).
