Brake Pads

(1/3) > >>

Dr.Ed:
Was planning to change the front brake pads this weekend and dutifully bought the pads and mounting kit what i thought was the right VIN number, pulled the wheel to find that the mounting springs and pads seem to be the older type (split pin, pre-KA034313) instead of the newer version (solid rod) that the age of the vehicle would imply. pads were of the older type.

So.. does anyone know if the brake calliper part number is stamped on it anywhere? Will it make any difference using new style pads in an (possibly) old style calliper?

Thanks,

Ed.

Andy41:
my parts manual states that there indeed different calipers depending on year of disco

also list pads and retention kits with different numbers

its not clear from the pictures if they are interchangeable however

sorry.  :(

Range Rover Blues:
I didn't know the pads themselves were any different :-.

Andy41:
looking at the diagram the pads look the same but the retaining method is different.

however that doesnt mean they wont fit

split pin or solid pin either way as long as they hold the pads in................... :)

mr_disco:
thats the same thing that happend to me when i had a 200tdi they gave me the 300tdi kit,, still fitted and stopped me ok,, not sure about the ewn owner tho if he still alive lol
