2002 ecu swap to a year 2000 manual 90

Yes you can...

However, it nees to be programmed correctly!!! i.e. files suitable for an Defender EU2 engine - as the later flash ECU's are for to EU3 spec engines. (and you need a ECU from a manual LR, not a Disco Auto)

You will also have to swap the injector codes, and 'learn' the engine ECU to the 10AS alarm unit.

Why do you want to swap ECU's??

Good reason to change it then....

All you need to do is get yourself a NNN500020 or NNN000120 ECU and have it programmed with the correct files for your early spec engine... swap the injector codes, and teach it to the car and jobs a good'un.

(I can do all of the above if needed)
