I had exactly the same problem on the same motor, a R5 GTT, didnt find the problem until I checked it with penetrant flaw detector.

u could always try putting 2 head gaskets on when i do it again lower the compression!

dont know what type of h/ gasket you used but l/r now supply them multi layer gaskets . aparently supperseded the older elring type .  personally i try and find these .think the elring ones are better . i wouldnt use the newer one . infact think theres one in me garage somwhere i ordered and when it come didnt use it .. would definatly get a straight edge across it and see iff its warped . and because you have had trouble for a while with it . it may be worth as already said get it tested . . good luck with it . alan...

Well I've got another head now so just a small bit of work i should have it all back together, the H gaskets i use are the 3 hole gasket which is the largest of the ones you can get
