Detachable Tow hitch + Tank gaurd

J.D.:
Got a southdown one on mine and you don't notice it when you are towing, where as the single pin in the scorpion one tends to make the trailer rattle about a bit.

Jonny Boaterboy:
Ummm RRB I do wonder about the weight side of things I am assuming the air suspension will level it out but I know when I loaded the boot up with 20 bags of cement (0.5 tonne) and had 3.5 tonne trailer on the back, overall weight of 6+ tonne even with the air, the nose was sitting up a little!

I guess 30kg on the bottom will increase the side slope I can traverse by 0.5%?  :-.

I'm glad you told me that JD, was a little worried that with the southdown it would clonk and rattle about, don't want that! I am leaning towards the southdown at the moment as they said they would do it for £292 all in including the recovery attachment.

J.D.:
Yeah, for  while I had a type similar to the scrap iron racing one and the other thing that got me is the drop plate is only attached at the top, with a heavy trailer on and the tow ball on the bottom of the drop plate, there is a lot of leverage on the drop plate.

The other reason I like the Southdown one is I have three attachments, a tow bar, the recovery eye, and another towbar with a 9000lb winch bolted to it as a removable winch mount. I welded a tray up for the winch and used four tow bar bolts to attach it to the tow bar and cut the tow bar in half to make it look pretty. Can supply pics if you want.

Jonny Boaterboy:
That would be great JD if you could send some pics of that. That was one of the reasons I liked the scorpion one as you could have a detachable winch as well. I think I am sold on the southdown now just got to raise the funds.... (off work with a shoulder repair at the moment so going hard on e-bay..... should have enough in a couple of weeks!)

J.D.:
Yeah, can't do at the moment as the truck is on its way to Slough with a car trailer on the back to pick up a show car for the weekend and the winch mount is inside it.

Might get some picks of it in action at the weekend for you though.
