Glad of the winch

When I fitted my winch it was really on the basis of having a free winch mount made for me;  wasn't sure how often I'd use it, or if it would just sit there and decay.

Well it turned out to be very useful this weekend as I had to winch minibuses out of bogs on 3 separate occasions.  (We'd hired a remote hut on Dartmoor;  only very rough track access and the only place for turning round was very wet and sinky, and the buses tended to sink in overnight.)

The Tabor 9000 I fitted made light work of it all;  no messing about, sorted in a couple of minutes.  Towing wasn't an option with any of them because of the angles and terrain.

So I'm glad I had it!

Hi Dave

How you doing?
Eventfully weekend then!
Do you have any pics of the Disco with the winch on?
May catch up on Dartmoor over the winter?
Cheers

Rob had to tow out another minibus stuck next to the Two Bridges - Merrivale road but he did it with a bit of enthusiastic right foot.  Shame, I'm starting to find this winching stuff fun!  Not a great image but pic attached.  Nice and discrete, although it's all covered in mud at the moment.

 Robs 110 was a little down on power until I stripped the pump & replaced the diagphram, sounds like he needed the oomph
Thats a nice fit of the winch, good choice too   Who fitted it?
I have a new chassis for the 110, arrived today, with a neat rear winch basket & all coated in lovely galvanise
It will live again for more adventures abroad!

Stuart built the winch tray for his A-level tech project and we fitted it between us (although he did all the fiddly bits where you skin your knuckles and drop a winch on your head).  He made a neat little device which allows you to engage and disengage the clutch using a half inch socket.  The tray's been tested up to 4 tonnes courtesy of two tractors :)  After eyeing up your awning I've fitted one of those too!
