Welding question.
Mutz:
Has anybody actually replaced a rear tub panel and welded it themselves?
If so what did you use to weld it, was it successful and did it look ok?
Can i use a small mig to do it?
Spot welder?
TIG?
Havnt done a search on here but trawling through the tinternet does not come up with the answer!!!
Or a link to another site if available. Also anyone tried out the new cheap TIG MMA welders available?
How do Landrover weld the panels in the tub on originally?
If youve done this and have pics i would be very gratefull to see them, and no i dont want to pop rivet it on either.
crazymac:
What panel do you mean? 1st of all the tub is aluminium, so its specialist welding really?
Pics??
Mutz:
nearside rear wing panel, which is welded to the inner seat box and the 2 rear panels which are welded in the door frame.
V8MoneyPit:
You can MIG aluminium with the correct wire, but it's not great. TIG welding is the way to go. But TIG welding sheet aluminium is not easy if you've not done it before! Trust me, I've just been TIG welding rivet holes in door skins
Range Rover Blues:
You can buy brazing kits for aluminium.
