Which part of England, Scotland, Ireland & Wales do you all go to for a holiday given the opportunity?

Any particular reasons?
Where do you stay?
What do you visit?

Oh,& yes. I am angling for ideas for '04 (besides the ones I already have)

I'll begin it.

If we stay within 'Gods Own Country' (Yorkshire), be it a day-trip or a week, we go to;

Whitby (more genteel than the overly commercialised Scarborough
Robin Hoods Bay; lovely quiet village, only residents cars in village

Hawes; delightful market town, great scenery

Harrogate; upmarket Spa town, plus  a TVR main dealer :)

Ripley;superb ice-cream shop, and nice village ( www.ripleycastle.co.uk )

Ilkley; a quieter Harrogate, plus Ilkey Moor itself*

Skipton

Settle

Ingleton; Three Peaks country, marvellous cafe -'Bernies', and an amazingly open (yet twisty) road across to Hawes -B6255- just watch out for maniac bikers & Subaru drivers

Apparantly people go into the Tourist Information Office and ask where 'B'aat At' is. As in "On Ilkaa Moor, B'aat......"

Is the road over to top still open?, the one across to Whetstone Gate? (by radio mast)


Other places;

Morecambe; Faded glory now, but on the rebound apparantly
Keswick; In fact all of the Lake District.
Devon & Cornwall, again all of it, especially St Ives, St Michaels Mount, Penzance, Torquay, Starcross, Dawlish & Bigbury-on-Sea.

We used to go to Swanage every year when I was a kid and its just sort of carried on now we have kids (even if they both have 666 tattooed on their heads  :twisted: )
Beaches at Studland are nice, they were also used for training for the D-Day landings, apparently in Studland Bay somewhere is a lot of tanks that were dropped by accident.
Go across to Poole Harbour via the chain ferry, boat trips to Brownsea Island.
Weymouth and Portland Bill in the other direction to Poole.
Inland is Stonehenge and Salisbury Plain which makes for a fun weekends driving  :wink:
