Central Locking

(1/3) > >>

neal:
Hi all you have been highly recommended to me

I`ve had my Grand Cherokee [ 2002 ] a week and not sure if I have touched something whilst testing or developed a fault. Anyway a small but annoying thing. When I picked it up the central locking worked fine then key one remote stopped opening the doors although I can lock it fine. Remote two worked fine so I thought maybe remote number ones battery. I had the batteries replaced in both remotes. Outside the shop remote one worked opening and closing.

The next day I went to lock it and remote one was back to the original problem it will lock but to open I have to use the key. I thought ok then remote two was ok but that too only locks but will not open......

Any of you experts suggest what to do please. I know of a guy that re programmes remotes but don`t want to waste money if it`s just a simple problem I`m overlooking. One person suggested disconnecting the battery over to you......

Bishops Finger:
Initially try that and leave battery disconnected for 5 minutes...HTH

neal:
Thankyou Bish ;) If I disconnect will any radio codes be needed please for this vehicle ? excuse my ignorance please only owned it a couple of weeks now ?

Fat Gaz:
There's every chance that the radio will need re-coding, 99.9% sure.

There should be a record of this in the service book or even in the destructions for the stereo, could be hand written or a sticker, so have a good look before you disconnect it, failing that, if its the original Jeep item, a phone call to your local stealership with the reg number & Chassis number on hand, they should be able to tell you  ;)

neal:
Thankyou Gaz and Bish...... I`ll give it all a go on Wednesday  :)
