MOT problems
(1/1)
Ridgeback:
MOT time and its failed on a few bits!
I have a Leak from the steering pump. I have seen the seal kits but is it worth it. I did this with the PAS box and as many say on here, it never works, so I got a new one.
Is this the case with the pump or is it worth doing the seals.
I also need to get the steering wheel off . Is there a way of getting this off. I did make a puller but it just snapped one of the bolt that goes onto the wheel.
Thanks
Matt

I have always got them off by pulling alternately on each side of the wheel, frantically. Leave the nut on by a couple of threads though, otherwise the wheel can suddenly come off and hit you in the teeth. My power steering box has weeped fluid for the last five MOTs. I just thouroughly pressure wash the evidence away before each test, at the same time as pressure washing most of the underside, my tester likes that.

I did have a go a pulling but will try pulling a bit harder. Might try the hammer to then.

I got it off at last.
I got a puller from ebay, that came with 8.8T bolts and it even snapped one of them. In the end I got more bolts and got the heat gun on the wheel centre with the puller on at the same time.
