The MSA say as a miniumum 48x3.2 BS1387, EN10255 tubing (48mm OD, 3.2mm wall)

And, it's worth mentioning that if you're intending on using the vehicle in MSA recognised events, then you'd better read the blue book...... there are rules as to where pipes can go, and types of joint etc......
disco-v8:
dought it will have to be msa standards, just trying to get a rough guide of what sort of thickness i need to be safe, if a roll over was to happen
its more for extreme playdays
thanks

I thought it was the "green book" for most 4x4 regs I got my green book on joining the Devon & Cornwall Land rover club, I have nerver got round to reading the blue book stuff despite the fact that I have one for my Sprinting events, but thats just me being ill informed I guess....anyway...
If you do build/buy one that conforms to the right regs, then if you change your mind and have a go then you are fine or if you sel the car it will be more attractive to someone who wants a competition car. Finally if its up to regs you have more confidence its up to your non copetative use.
Just my 2p worth
