Series III Electrical question

Hello List,

I have a Series III 109 Diesel FFR from the Dutch Army. I have some weird problem ... my batteries (24V system) was not charging, so I toke things apart. And after taking the generator out, which was OK. And the voltage regulator, which seems OK. I laid my eyes on a round tube, almost condensator like box. The main feed out from the voltage regulator goes there and then is splits into two wires, one going to the vehicle and the second going to a fusebox for the radio part. Anybody knows what this round box is, before I braek the seals on it ??
