turbonutter:
my mate has a pajero , he has put 3 alternators on it now , every time he goes anywhere near water it kills it

any off u come up with ways to stop this ?

padjy:
i know how he feels mate, ive been through 3 on mine, for some stupid reason theyve put them in the most french place for a 4x4!

im trying to make up some sort of plate to try and slow the water hitting the alt and after every mud session i wash it out with a hose and plaster it with WD40 or sillicon spray and just hope it holds out for the next time. ;) does seem to be a bit more resilient afterwards.

LandRoger:
I cured the problem by buying a Landy!  seriously though what a place to site the thing ,there is a guy on the Pajero forum who has a conversion that includes two long plates that relocate the alti high up on the right side, will try to find a link and get back to you, i have the same prob with L200 drowned it a few times -no troubles yet but i do drown it in silocon spray before going out,

LePaj:
the 2.5's are more vunerable than the 2.8's - I've had a couple but usually last about a year before brushes are worn out - take it easy in the water! electric fan can help as you can switch it off otherwise you're sucking water through the rad and spraying it everywhere

turbonutter:
weve been looking at moving it up ,think its the only way to go
shall have to get the welder out and make sumthing up
