200tdi fuel gague

my fuel gague has recently become intermittent, some days it shows me that i have no fuel other days it works fine any ideas? tried the fuses, wires etc is this common?

it is most likly the circuit board on the back got dry connections, not heard of it in discos but it is comon on fiat, renault, Peugeot, Citroen, Vauxhall and ford and probably most vehicles

Agree with Ben ^^^^ I was thinking instrument panel would be my next stop....then connectors on the top of the tank to the sender. If the floors rust so could the wires here.

my 200 and 300 both did this both times it was the sender unit there is a small braided wire goes between the moving and fixed parts of the sender this will be broken/loose, i fixed mine by using a piece of braid cut from some old coax cable
