head bolts
Banjo:
Could someone please give me the torque settings, for head bolts and rocker shaft bolts on a 200 tdi.
hobbit:
Ok the figures I have are
Cylnder head
40 NM
then
tighten 60 degrees
then
Tighten 60 degrees again
If you are unsure of the 60 degrees, just remember that it is equivalent of one of the flats on a standard six sided bolt
Do you have the Tightening sequence?
Rocker shaft Bolts
4-5 Nm
Banjo:
Cheers hobbit, it started making a tapping/ticking noise now you can feel it blowing at the back of the head, just hope heads ok.

Head gasket changes must be addictive at the moment. Mine went last Wednesday, no fuss or hassle. I was only doing 40/45 and it suddenly went on to three cylinders . The head gasket was gone near No 4 cylinder. As it didn't get warm or loose any coolant I am praying the engine has survived. I should have gone to Scotland next weekend in the truck but it looks like we will be taking the car instead. I dare not risk a long run untill I am shure the problems are solved. Don't forget the oil drain from the turbo, the manifold wont come off until it is disconnected
Banjo:
Well i got away with just a gasket, it was blowing past the fire ring on number 4. When the head came off, some of the waterways were almost blocked with red/orange gunge, first thought it was K seal :( but then realized someone had fitted a new water pump and used loads of what looks like red hermetite. It was not the cause of the problem but may have caused problems later. Just hope the same muppet didn't do the cambelt.
