(1/1)

fezzy192:
my td 90 is very hard to start when cold i have replace
all filters
glow plugs
lift pump and theres brand new fuel lines on her

any ideas will be great as running out of ideas

could it be the tappets as there slighty noisy when running
many thanks kev

The tappets will contribute to it not starting easily but they would have to be a long way out to make it very hard to start.  Are you sure the glowplug wiring is OK?  I have in the past fitted new glow plugs, found no improvement and then found that the wiring was knackered, can't remember if the TD ones are wired in series or parallel, but if it's series if one bit of wire has had it you loose all the glow plugs after it.

Has it started suddenly or has it got gradually worse?  If it was sudden, what's changed? Has it got good compression(make sure you use a diesel compression tester)?

just done the tappets and they were well out by about 1/4 of a inch lol
and i found the fuel was running back to the tank  so found the dodgy fuel pipe and put a new one on just gotta charge yhe battery tonight and hopefully

How did you get on with the dodgy fuel pipe?, was that the problem?

It's just that I have the same problem with starting from cold or the next day, even with over a minute of glow plugs   :(   Any ideas??

i have found that fuel is running back to the tank after about 2 minutes after stopping the engine but it starts after a lot of cranking lol
so i have give up until i do my 200tdi conversion in the new year
