Hydraulic winch - with no hydraulics?

<< < (2/3) > >>

winchman:
I dont think a power steering pump will supply enough flow or pressure or hold enough oil to power a 10 tonne winch, you need a dedicated PTO or gear box driven pump.
Hydraulics are the best for regular use but aint cheap the last one I was involved in was 4 tonne on a Ford Explorer and met all relivent legislation and safety law cost £6000 fitted.

winchman:
I almost forgot. Ask your insurance company about connecting in to the existing power steering pump, you wont like the answer.

jalopy joe:
And dont skimp on the hoses and fittings, jubilee clips wont work here.  I know that sounds obvious but we`ve had stuff back under warranty where people have tried to replace the hoses with heater hose and jubilee clips :!:

Nige:
