Jimny suspension, whats next?
« on: August 20, 2008, 20:32:38 »
Was thinking of upgrading to 31's on my Jimny but no sure about it with regards to gearing and arch clearance therefore the other option is to go for the next level with the suspension and articulation, only problem is, whats the next level!?

I'm currently running a 3" lift on pro comp springs and ES3000 shocks with castor corrected front radius arms, where do I go next to get more height and articulation!

Comments and recommendations welcomed.

Steve.

My first question would be - why? I don't feel that lack of articulation limits what the Jimny can do!To gain more articulation will involve as much work and expence as fitting 31"s - which I would suggest will give better improvement of all round performace. If you want to consider more articulation there arn't any off the shelf kits that I know of. One of the mods I have seen on a couple of Jimny's is to fit Toyota axels. Here are some pic's of one that regularly takes part in the Howlin' Wolf challenge series.

I wasn't implying that articulation was everything I was just weighing up my options with regards to where to spend my money next. From the comments I guess its going to be easier and potentially alot cheaper to go down the larger tyres route and then sort the gearing out.
