p38 viscous coupling

automania:
right new problem now, how easy is the viscous unit to do?  from pictures of them i take its behind one of the propshaft flanges but which one is it behind? cheers again

automania:
just been having another look, and i can just about turn the front n/s wheel when jacked up, and i mean just, by just grabbing the tyre. so persumably its on its way out or is this as bad as they go?

Range Rover Blues:
You can just turn the tyre by hand? how far?  that sounds about right TBH.  The viscous fluid is stiff enough to hold the propshaft flange whilst you do the nuts up.

automania:
well done a  bit more reading into this on th net and found a test. apparantly with 60ft/lb applied to a wheel nut you should be able to turn the wheel 90 degrees in 60secs. mine takes longer than this but does it, so im gonna persume its ok for now and keep an eye on it. cheers for replying

v8kenny:
What is making you think that there is a problem with the VC ?
