Clutch Judder
(1/1)
Mark_Solesbury:
the clutch in my 90 is starting to judder sometimes upon take up...
Its never slipped during drive, and is biting right at the top.
Time to start saving?
Range Rover Blues:
Time to check the engine/gearbox mounts and the axle bushes too.
Les Henson:
If it turns out to be a clutch imbalance, then expect to have to get the flywheel refaced as well.
Les.
Mark_Solesbury:
Dont think its an imbalance
It only does it once a week or so.
Ive looked at the gearbox bushes, and they are soft. I can move the box by hand from underneath.
Anyone got a guide to changing them?
Range Rover Blues:
IIRC they are mounted to brackets bolted to the chassis, the easiest way will be to do one at a time, removing the brackets.
Youmight get away with removing one bracket and doing the other side by lifting the gearbox on a jack, there is more room to one side than the other.
You should also change the engine mounts, I chnage mine by lifting the nose of the engine and shoving it sideways, but it's a just-and-only. Once I had to remove the engine mount bracket too.
