rear propshaft only??????

i have just removed my propshaft from my disco before it fell off, am i right in thinking that i would be able to drive disco with rear propshaft as two wheel drive, but the motor does not want to move, all i done was remove the front prop. any ideas????     yes it was in gear & transmission brake off & the prop flange was rotating on front of transfer box.  any idea????

Yes you need to engage Difflock!

It is not a good idea to drive around like this unless nescesary as it causes more stress and wear on other components(just my opinion).

Range Rover Blues:
As Dr Niel says, don't do it for too long, there are insurance implications and it will handle differently (mine sits up on the back axle when I floor it).  If you take it steady then you'll do no damage, not with a TDi.

I have a 300TDI and last year I had just removed my front prop to change the UJ's. Phone rings and I find my wife had just been involved in a car accident and was being taken to hospital some 50 miles away...!!!

Lobbed the old girl in Difflock and off I went.!!! Like above the handling was....hmmmm different to say the least but made the 100 mile round trip ok.

In an emergency then I'd do it again but I wouldn't want to make a habit if it.

Whilst trying to diagnose a vibration I had only the front prop on my LSE.

Wheelspin city, what's worse on one hill I almost couldn't get moving again because I couldn't get the grip.

Quite interesting, a 2 tonne 5.0 litre chavmobile :-.
