Mr Alford:
heres a few pics of me and my girlfriends discovery's both with brand new tyres courtesy of www.mailorder4x4.co.uk mine were insa turbo special track 265/75/16 and she went for insa turbo sahara 235/70/16
now for my customised rear jacking points as i find myself jack from here on rugular occasions so instead of bending th erear crossmember i have welded a new thicker plate of metal and the on top glued and riveted a very strong aluminium plate
before
the next step all welded
ally plates on and undersealed
couple extra sneaky pics

Mr Alford:
right a small update forr boss and others who are interested altho i do need some questions answered, i liked boss' design of rock sliders for 2 reasons, to look solid and most of all they are perfectly designed so i can mount my exterenal rollcage to them that i have been planning for aaaaaaages and promised id get good enough at welding before i attempted it i feel im pretty much there now sooooo........................ i willbe doing the rock sliders next tuesday once they are completed i will start on the external rollcage i will get a safari snorkel first in replacement of my home made one as they are much tighter to the vehicle what pipe size would people recommend thats my biggest question for strength but at the same time i dont quite want a scaffolding pole
Disco_Stu:
Have a look at the pirate 4x4 website. There is an in depth discussion on tube material, strength, cost, cutting techniques etc. Its in a suspension article about making your own links but the info is still valid.
Also search the LR 4x4 site for rollcages, some of those lads have done excellent threads about making them in the past.
Good luck, I'll watch this one with interest :-k
