just wondering for future reference.
Range Rover Blues:
Me too, I have a S/H alternator from a serpentine engine and the 80 amp unit on Blue is playing up again (I recenlty had it rebuilt) so I'm thinking of swapping it. My only reservation is the 80 amp unit can shred a new belt in an afternoon, so how bad will a 100 amp unit be :-.

Use better belts
ive been running a 150A on my 200tdi & the belt has lasted 4 months, changed it simply for reliability as im doing the TFC nect weekend
i use genuine gates belts, 13mm wide in 10mm pulleys
Range Rover Blues:
Yes I've found using a 13mm belt rather than a 10mm has made a huge differnece, though you get a bit less choice of sizes.
Is yours ok when you are winching too Mike? I can't imagine a higher load on the alternator than that, except perhaps winching in the dark.
