I've read Jimmy Nail's "A Northern Soul".

The character of Leonard Jeffrey 'Oz' Osborne in Auf Wiedersehen Pet is just a continuation of his real personality as a youth!! Coincidentally, he had a part as an extr in Get Carter with Michael Caine.

Still got Pat Roach's "If - The Pat Roach Story" on the shelf.

There's 3 books.
The first 'It's Not About The Bike' was the one that got the William Hill Sportsbook Of The Year award

As Matt says that's the one that deals with the Cancers, surgery & subsequent recovery to iconic sportsman

The second 'Every Second Counts'[/i] deals with the Tour, his marriage breakup, the relationship with Sheryl Crow, & various related issues


As a cyclist & admirer of the man (having met him once, when he was World Champion), they're rivetting reading



Other 'BTM Recommendations' include;

'Walker' (Johnnie Walkers life & -very interesting- times)

'Margrave Of The Marshes' (part auto-biography, part biography, after his death)

'Pies & Prejudice' (not a biography, but still a journey into the authors past, and the 'North-South' divide)

'Can You Tell Who It Is Yet?' (Rolf Harris, quite amusing)

'Rotten' (John Lydon, the problem is you never know when this man's being truthful)

'Back To The Batcave' (Adam West, as much as I don't like the TV Batman, it's a good book)

'Fred' (David Hall, the official biography)

I'm reasonably sure "It's Not About The Bike" was the one I read, but based on that I'd have no hesitation to buy the sequel.

Another one i read when i was younger which i have just remembered about was "unreliable memoirs" by clive james.  If you read and arent laughing your pants off after the first chapter then there is sommat really wrong! lol
