Just got a used warn M8000 the free spool lever was jammed, but wd40 and some persuading and its now moving, but i cant get the winch to free spool, even tried pulling the winch line with another landy, any ideas!!!!!!!

ps it looks like it hasnt been used for a while!!

Sounds to me like the cone brake inside the drum has seized.

You can download some parts diagrams from here http://www.warn.com/truck/winches/src/M8000.shtml They will have exploded diagrams that will help with disassembly and with parts ordering.
